Saint John Beaches That are Great for Kids

4 Saint John Beaches That are Great for Kids!

With so many fantastic beaches in the Saint John area, how do you chose which one to visit? If you have kids, check out one of these four beaches. They all have playgrounds nearby, seasonal washrooms and are popular swimming spots. Two of them are lakeside, one is on the Saint John River, and the other is part of the Bay of Fundy. It doesn’t matter what time of year you visit them, your whole family will have fun at these four Saint John beaches.

Lakeside

Little River Reservoir

Saint John Beaches That are Great for Kids, Little River Reservoir

This small sandy lakeside beach is great for families. It is nestled beside a playground and plenty of picnic tables with nearby access to the parking lot and porta-potties. During the summer months, this beach has a lifeguard on duty. This park has an easy 3.4 km walking trail that you could take a rugged stroller on. Off the trail, a short (not stroller-friendly) path takes you to a small peaceful waterfall.

Location: 11 minutes from the Uptown area.

Type: Sandy freshwater lakeside beach.

Fisher Lakes

Saint John Beaches That are Great for Kids

This might be the smallest beach of them all, but the area is great for exploring with trails all around it. The main path that leads to the beach is stroller-friendly. It has seasonal washrooms and a lifeguard. Nearby is the Kiwanis Play Park, which is a large playground. The beach is located in Rockwood Park and the lake is also a great place to go canoeing or kayaking.

Location: 5 minutes away from Uptown. The best place to park is at the Fisher Lake parking lot then you walk along the path to the Kiwanis Play Park. The beach is just before the park.

Type: Sandy freshwater lakeside beach.

Ocean Side

Mispec Beach

This popular sandy beach greatly expands as the tide goes out. It has a sizable parking lot with a nearby playground, seasonal bathrooms, and during the summer months, stairs that take you down to the beach. For the rest of the year, the stairs are closed but you can access the beach by climbing down the hill beside them.

Location: 15 minutes from Uptown.

Type: Sandy ocean side beach.
