DESTINATION DOUGHNUTS

The passion to make enticing doughnuts for people to enjoy is what drives the father and daughter team behind Destination Doughnuts. Their large doughnuts have an exquisitely simple base featuring inventive sweet and savoury toppings.

Visit in the morning to see all of their 15 ever-changing flavours, as they typically sell out by mid-afternoon. Some of their original flavours include the savoury Bacon Double Cheese and, for those with a sweet tooth, the White Chocolate Strawberry Cheesecake doughnut. Local Tip: They offer delightful mini doughnut-hole samples of their current flavours.

OHANA DONUTERIE

Say Aloha to this colourful and relaxed cafe that started as a local doughnut truck. Inspired during a trip to Hawaii, the two behind this venture brought the traditional malasada style doughnut back to Edmonton.

Customers get to pick their topping; plain, cinnamon sugar, chocolate or vanilla dip and fill it with their choice of fresh whipped creams. Local Tip: Be sure to ask about their monthly and weekly specialty donut.

DOUGHNUT PARTY

Here doughnuts are celebrated every day with festive flavours changing weekly. The hosts are the same two behind the successful Moonshine Doughnuts found in Edmonton’s markets. This party is all about doughnuts big in size and flavour topped with colourful scratch-made glazes, sprinkles, and crumbles.

Guests can stop by and pick up bright pink boxes filled with fun flavours like Dill Pickle, Coconut Black Sesame, and Watermelon Mint Cucumber. Local tip: Check out their social media for the weekly menu.

Respectfully acknowledge that I am located in the Traditional Wəlastəkwiyik land. And that this area is on the unceded and unsurrendered territories of the Wolastoqiyik, Peskotomuhkati and Mi’kmaq, respectively known as Wolastokuk, Peskotomuhkatik and Mi’kma'ki. These lands are covered by the Treaties of Peace and Friendship first signed with the British Crown in 1725, and then recognized and affirmed by Canada in section 35 of the Constitution Act of 1982. The treaties did not surrender the territory and resources but in fact recognized Wolastokuk, Peskotomuhkatik and Mi’kma'ki title, and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations. I pay respect to the elders, past and present, and descendants of this land.
