Farmers Markets in Saint John NB that you need to visit!

This city is home to some fantastic farms with fresh produce, artisan crafters, and tasty dishes. The best place to find the perfect mix of all these local things is at these farmers markets in Saint John NB!

Saint John City Market

Saint John City Market

When you visit this market you are experiencing Canada’s oldest continuously running farmer’s market! Be sure to look up and admire the craftsmanship of the roof which looks like an inverted ship. Many of the vendors have permanent shops and keep the same operating hours as the market. Saint Johners purchase their fresh and locally sourced vegetables, meats, fish, and cheeses. The food vendors are always kept busy, especially over weekday lunch hours. There is a good variety of delicious places to choose from including; Kim’s Korean Food, Billy’s Seafood Company (a restaurant with fresh fish for purchase), The Wild Carrot Cafe, Naan-Ya Business, and more! If you are looking to pair your meal with the perfect drink check out Uncorked Tours tasting room for New Brunswick made beer, wine, cider, and spirits. You will find fantastic locally made wares and souvenirs at The Butchers Daughter (jewelry & pottery) and there are tons of local crafters, photography, and art vendors along the middle row of stalls.

Location: 47 Charlotte Street

Hours: Monday to Friday (7:30AM to 6:00PM) & Saturday (7:30AM to 5:00PM)

Tips from the Locals: For the full market experience be sure to visit on Saturday as there are many vendors that only appear on that day! Once you have purchased your food head over to the middle of the south side and enjoy eating in the glass enclosure that faces the brick alley.

Saint John Night Market

Saint John Night Market

This is the younger hip sister of the nearby City Market. She opened up last year and was fashionable right from the start. Her live music echos down the vintage brick alley draped with Edison light bulbs. The air is filled with yummy smells from the food vendors and offers locally crafted boozy drinks for purchase. You will find friendly local produce, arts, and crafts vendors along the south alley and a dining area on the northside.

Location: 47 Charlotte Street, in the alley beside the City Market

Hours: Thursdays 5 PM to 9 PM, May to Mid-October

Queen Square Farmers' Market

Queen Square Farmers’ Market

For the last decade, this market has become an iconic Saint John gathering place. Many families have made it part of their Sunday tradition to stop and purchase farm fresh eggs and vegetables. Many of the vendors sell ready to eat hot and delicious food. With its popularity, you are sure to run into an old friend while browsing.

Location: Queen Square

Hours: Sunday’s 9 AM to 2 PM, Early May to Mid-October

Tips from the Locals: If you are craving a certain dish make sure to arrive early! Most of the beloved dishes run out quickly. Pack a blanket so you can enjoy your food picnic style!
