My City Life is a treasure trove of antiques and nostalgia found in Brunswick Square Shopping Centre. Want to see an extraordinary collection? Wander towards the back of this unique Saint John shop and discover their one of a kind Uranium glass room!

My City Life Saint John NB

Originally, the shop opened up last fall on Princess Street but grew in popularity so quickly that it needed to find a bigger space. They packed everything up and moved into the Uptown Shopping Centre. This gave them a larger showroom with more storage space. If you can not find that perfect vintage piece you are seeking, be sure to ask and they might have it tucked away. They have a wide variety of items for sale including beautiful wooden furniture, delicate glassware, bright pink gooseberry Pyrex from the 1950s, old buttons, elegant lamps, and more!

With the extra room at the new space, they were also able to start working on a special display room for their pride and joy, Uranium glass! What had started with just one piece of this unique glassware soon turned into a passion project to collect more. The room is outfitted with blacklights on each shelf and once you close the door the effect is remarkable. Uranium glass, also known as Vaseline glass, gets its green fluorescent glow from small harmless amounts of uranium added to the glass. This popular luminescent glass was produced up until World War II. Currently, the collection is set up for display only. After a few months, once patrons have had a chance to visit and enjoy, the items will be available for sale.

Respectfully acknowledge that I am located in the Traditional Wəlastəkwiyik land. And that this area is on the unceded and unsurrendered territories of the Wolastoqiyik, Peskotomuhkati and Mi’kmaq, respectively known as Wolastokuk, Peskotomuhkatik and Mi’kma'ki. These lands are covered by the Treaties of Peace and Friendship first signed with the British Crown in 1725, and then recognized and affirmed by Canada in section 35 of the Constitution Act of 1982. The treaties did not surrender the territory and resources but in fact recognized Wolastokuk, Peskotomuhkatik and Mi’kma'ki title, and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations. I pay respect to the elders, past and present, and descendants of this land.
