This experience was gifted to me as part of the Glass Roots hotshop grand opening, with no expectation to write about it. My opinions are my own.
Glass Roots Inc.’s hotspot room is a must-visit for anyone interested in Saint John glassblowing. Located in uptown Saint John, NB on Canterbury Street, you can watch the glassblowing team of Curtis Dionne, Charlotte Macleod, and Nick Drover create stunning glass pieces, from tiny bees to large vases and award statues.
Their new hotspot room is perfect for visitors to observe the glass-making process up close. There are two rows of seating, so you can watch comfortably. Be sure to check out their large gallery and see the complete variety of what they produce.
If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even try making your own glass creation. I got to try making glass flowers during their hotshop grand opening, and it was a blast! Curtis walked me through each step and made the process seem easy.
Glass Roots Inc. also offers glassblowing classes in Saint John, NB, for anyone who wants to try their hand at this unique art form. You can enroll in small classes for two people or book for a larger group. Visit their Facebook page for the latest information on their current classes.
Note: Currently, they have classes for two people. You both get to take home a glass flower, a drinking glass, and a paperweight. It’s a 2-hour class and only $350 (Feb 2023)
