Christmas Market in Saint John, on La Petite Watson

5 Must-Do Activities at Rockwood Park Christmas Market

Each year since 2023, the Saint John Horticultural Association (a non-profit that supports the Saint John Public Gardens) has transformed Rockwood Park Campground in Saint John into an outdoor Christmas Market for the festive season. In 2023 & 2024 I visited this campground that is now home to a merry Christmas market.

In 2024, I was gifted 2 free day passes to the market. This blog post was first written in 2023 and updated in 2024. The opinions are completely my own, based on my experience.

The charming wooden stalls, festively decorated and conveniently clustered, made our stroll through the market a cozy and easy adventure.

In the middle of the group of stalls were little warming spots with wood fires. Just a short walk away, the food truck area was calling, we all enjoyed some sausages from the hotdog stand. From there we walked a short distance and got to meet some adorable alpacas – a delightful surprise! The highlight for our little guy was definitely the visit to Santa’s grotto, where he met Santa for the first time in 2023!

Check out the Rockwood Park Campground Facebook page to see which organizations you will find in the cabins when you visit!

Top Things to Do at Rockwood Park’s Christmas Market:

  1. Explore the Wooden Stalls: With over 45 vendors, the market offers a treasure trove of gifts, decorations, and festive delights. (Find the vendor list for the coming weekend on their Facebook page – Rockwood Park Christmas Market)
  2. Visit Santa’s Grotto: For the little ones (and the young at heart), meeting Santa & Mrs Claus in his magical grotto is a delightful experience.
  3. Enjoy the Outdoor Spirits Bar: Don’t miss out on festive drinks like candy cane hot chocolate or gingerbread coffee. It’s like sipping on holiday cheer!
  4. Meet the Alpacas: A delightful and unique addition to this Christmas market, these friendly creatures will make you smile.
  5. If you go at night – bask in the Glow of Lights: The market’s twinkling lights and decorations, transform the campground into a holiday wonderland.

If you haven’t checked it out, head over there this week to explore and enjoy this delightful Christmas market!

Mobile accessibility things that I noticed: Their map shows 2 wheelchair parking spots and a wheelchair portable toilet. The terrain is dirt & gravel.
