NongBu’s Korean Street Style Food

This restaurant’s minimalistic style features concrete walls balanced by lightly stained wood. The back walls are brought to life with projections of black and white Korean movies. Their simple menu is filled with Korean favourites and all the dishes are made for sharing. The Kimbap has crisp seaweed rolled around crunchy pickled veggies and rice. My favourite is Fried Ddukbbokki, rice cakes coated in a sweet and spicy sauce. The Seafood Pa-Jeon, a pancake packed with shrimp, squid, and green onions, is so good my seafood-hating friends order it every time. Pair those with a cup of Makguli (Korean rice wine served in a golden teapot) for the full Korean experience!

Pho Boys Vietnamese Kitchen

This restaurant’s décor balances stylized vintage posters with murals of traditional Vietnam. The aroma of savoury broth floats around the room. I always order their Legend Rolls, spring rolls wrapped in rice paper with a perfect mix of crisp and chewy textures. Whether you order a bowl of Pho or Vermicelli your dish will be stocked with bright coloured vegetables and tasty meats.

Rosso Pizzeria Napolitano

Located in the historic Garneau area, this inviting restaurant specializes in wood-fired pizzas. I’m infatuated with their Edison light bulbs and tables made from old wine casks. Each pizza is cooked in their traditional forno oven. On chilly days I enjoy sitting by the kitchen, watching the pizzas brown over the open coals. I always order one of the Pizza Bianca, which uses a traditional white sauce, and a house-made gelato for dessert. It doesn’t matter what season it is, Rosso’s menu will fire you up.

Kazoku Ramen

Kazoku is Japanese for family, which sets the tone when you visit. All the dishes are cooked and served by the owner’s family. The atmosphere is kept light and warm with their friendly faces. They serve up hot ramen in big bowls of rich broth garnished with cute little Naruto fishcakes. With so many varieties of ramen to choose from, it’s easy to keep coming back for more!

Splash Poke’s Hawaiian Raw Fish Bowls

Edmonton’s first Poke restaurant created a ripple effect of Poke bowl popularity across the city. Inside, the designs are bright and bold. Their surfboard signs were custom designed and handcrafted in Maui. Ordering is easy, simply build your bowl just how you like it; think Subway but with raw fish. You start with a base of salad, rice, or noodles, then add your protein, toppings, and sauce. I always get salmon and nori on mine.  It’s a fast, healthy, and gorgeous meal.

These popular Edmonton restaurants are just a few of the delectable international places to eat in our city. Come travel the world through our city’s abundance of diverse restaurants.
